The café is named after the former street name of Gallop, which is now Zuni.
Owners Glen Baker and David Grafke have created a bright and very comfortable old world café atmosphere with an extensive menu of coffees, freshly baked pastries, breakfast specialties, hot and cold sandwiches, and freshly made soups and salads along with an eclectic list of premium wines, beers, and specialty cocktails. We specialize in bistro style fare, and delicious daily specials. Be sure to leave room for dessert!
“Our pastry case is graced with fresh baked muffins, cookies, brownies, assorted bars, cakes and pies and a host of other specials treats that are made here daily,” says Baker, a veteran of the food service business.
“We feel that few things compare to the taste of the delicious foods made here with great care and quality ingredients. Our customers appreciate the unpretentious quality of what we offer and the friendly service that we are known for at Gallop,” said Grafke.
“We found this location in 2004, and thought that it would make a perfect European style café. Built in 1885, the building housed Weir Hall, a place for the community of Highlands to gather for social clubs and parties. The hall performed an important function in the community and hopefully we have recaptured some of that at Gallop–a place for friends and neighbors to meet and enjoy great food and drink in a warm and inviting atmosphere.”
Gallop offers breakfast and lunch daily. Take-out menus are available and phone orders and catering engagements are accepted. All major credit cards are accepted.
